Today I had a pleasure to photograph the NBT Event at The Fashion Show Mall starting a movement called Spread The Dance. It's an advocacy campaign in support of Nevada Ballet Theatre--a professional ballet company and dance academy based in Las Vegas. The purpose of SpreadTheDance.org is to enable and fund NBT so that it continues to be a strong cultural leader for the people of its community.

I love to travel and discover new places. Last week I had opportunity to visit Costa Rica- tiny Central American country lodged between two great oceans. Maybe Costa Rica is a small country, but has a great spectrum of stunning landscapes and exotic wildlife. You can find there everything form misty rain forests, spewing volcanoes to rugged coastlines and marine reserves.

A Picture is worth a thousand words". That is so true. Time is going so fast and life is always changing; we will never look the same. I think everybody should have a family photo session or a portrait session with a professional photographer at least once a year. Photographers are not exceptions. To be true with my own beliefs I asked my friends- Edina & Fernando (great photographers) to take some photos of me and my boyfriend Wayne.

We had a really great time, and below you can see few photos from that session, of course after a few tweaks in Photoshop, I did. You must love Photoshop, I know I do :)))

Last week I had a pleasure to participate in ADJA (The American Disc Jockey Association) meeting, here in Las Vegas. Exceed Photography, plus other businesses, involved in Wedding Field (Memory Lane Video, CLM Weddings and Event, DragonRidge Country Club) created a special panel to answer local DJ's questions. During the meeting, we discussed high standards in the wedding industry, including a great work ethic, extraordinary customer service, continuing education and networking.

I would like to thank Kevin Cordova- President of ADJA, for starting this Chapter and for inviting me for that meeting. It truly is a great idea to have such meetings where everybody can come together and learn from each other, give support and grow as individuals and businesses.

Springs Preserve - Las Vegas's birthplace

The Springs Preserve is known as the birthplace of Las Vegas. Gazing out at the bone-dry, desert landscape of Las Vegas, it's hard to imagine that the area was once home to natural springs and abundant water. Recently I discovered that, the Preserve is home to entertainment, exhibits, galleries, trails and gardens that provide recreational and educational opportunities to visitors. And you can really "get a respite from the hustle and bustle of the Strip".

"Nevada's "Lost City", officially known as Pueblo Grande de Nevada is a series of Anasazi Indian ruins situated along the Muddy and Virgin River Valleys in southern Nevada. The site area is located at the northern end of man-made Lake Mead and continues up both valleys for a distance of approximately 30 miles. There are more than a 100 recorded sites along the Muddy River and over 50 recorded sites along the Virgin River. The Lost City was occupied by the Virgin branch of the Anasazi, originally by the Basketmaker people sometime after the first century A.D. and later by the Puebloans from A.D. 700 to 1150. Some of the sites were reoccupied by the Paiute Indians who moved into the area after A.D. 1000. The Basketmakers lived in sub-terrain pit houses that were 10 to 15 feet in diameter and approximately 6 feet deep. They used spears for hunting and their name is derived from their use of baskets as storage vessels. The later Puebloans lived in above ground pueblos (houses made of sticks and adobe). They had the additional knowledge of the bow and arrow and manufactured ceramic vessels for storage and cooking.

The Anasazi farmed corn, beans, squash, and cotton on the marshy valley floor and built multi-roomed pueblos on the gravel benches along the valley margins. In addition to farming and hunting natural resources, the Lost City Anasazi mined salt and turquoise both for their own personal use and as a highly valued trade item."

First time when I read about Pueblo Grande de Nevada, I knew I have to see it. I made some research and found out the there is a special museum in Overton Nevada on this topic. Of course I went there and got a bit disappointed. I was expecting to see much more stuff then I saw. But on the other hand I got to experience a small bit of Nevada's history.

Not long ago I was invited to UNLV to give a special presentation to some of the photography students. The whole 3 hr event was a lot of fun; I combined "dry knowledge" with some practical assignments and presentations. I really think I was able to transfer some of my knowledge and photography experience to the people, who love photography as much as I do. Below a couple of images from that day.

I used to live 10 min drive from the Chech border. My Frinds and me visited Jawornik- small town in Chech quite very often; sometimes for a walk, sometimes just to go to eat something in its very popular restaurant- Taverna. I had to do it again :)

If you ever go to Poland, you have to visit Krakow. It has a really unique charm. With its special climate of culture and arts, this city truly teaches visitors the history of Poland and Europe. Krakow is a place you will keeep coming back to. each time to discover new objects of startling beauty. I know I do :).

Klodzko is a small town in south-west of Poland, not far away from the place I grow up. It is one of the oldest settlements in Silesia. Due to its strategic position Klodzko has a long tradition of fortification. Today, from the monstrous brick fortess, built in 1662, you can admire the whole town.
